I spent a night recently at The Neurology Center for Sleep Disorders. It’s always a challenge to fall asleep with all of those wires attached to your body, but I managed to drift off at some point. I was sleeping soundly until 2:46am when the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building! Needless to say my sleep was disrupted, but fortunately I slept enough for them to gather the data they needed. Plenty of druggy psychedelia in this sleep-deprived episode.

All of the tracks in this episode were released in 2024, except the closing track by the Space Shepherds. There’s plenty of druggy music in this episode. The episode opens with Ride Me Down Easy by the Belgian band DRUUGG, followed by Eyes Are Acid by Savior Machine, and then Mushroom Man by Fairyport Convent (a Turn Me On, Dead Man regular by now). later in the episode is the Brazilian artist Aeri Satur with a track from an album Ayahuasca Ataraxia. As I said, a sizable helping of drug music in this episode.
Most of the tracks in this episode are self-released tracks. The only labels represented in this episode are The Swamp Records (Fairyport Convent), Table Basse Records (Yalisco), based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and for the third episode in a row, the ever-impressive Psychedelic Source Records (Pilot Voyager), based in Páty, Hungary.
The rest of the tracks in this episode are self-released. A couple of the bands I corresponded with expressed an interest in finding a label, so I hope this platform might help that along. I’ve noticed recently a network on independent labels that handle releases in various geographic areas around the world. Isophase, the new Trigona album set for release in March, is being released by Echodelick Records in the US, Worst Bassist Records in Europe, Weird Beard Records in the UK and We, Here and Now! in Canada.
Drops in this episode are from an LP called Learn While You Sleep: “Basic Conditioner”. No date is on the record, as is the case with all releases from Knight Educational Recordings, but it appears this was released somewhere around 1960. The idea was to play this record as you drifted off to sleep and the hypnotic voice would work its way into your subconscious mind, giving you all sorts of benefits to carry through your life. I’ve never tried listening to this album as I’m sleeping but who knows? It may even help you sleep through a fire alarm (on second thought, not such a good idea).

Connecticut rock and roll.
TMODM: What had the strongest influence on Eyes Are Acid?
Savior Machine: The sounds of the 90s. From Soundgarden to Fu Manchu to Sleep to Monster Magnet. Anything that had a groovy riff that stuck in my head.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
Savior Machine: Impossible to pick only one, but Monster Magnet’s Spin of God is what made me want to play this music.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Savior Machine: More songs, more records. Shows… maybe – we’re all old and lazy.
But we’d love to find a label to put out our demo and perhaps a full length. We have plenty of songs we’re working on and we’re hoping to gig in the New England/NYC area by this summer Keep a look out for a lot more coming from us in the new year.

Fairyport Convent is a Polish psychedelic space rock band formed in Poznań in 2021. The band is known for its unique blend of psychedelic rock, space rock, and garage rock, influenced by bands such as Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, and The Stooges. The band’s lyrics often explore themes of spirituality, mysticism, and the occult.
Signed to The Swamp Records. I corresponded with A.J. Kaufmann.
TMODM: What are you working on now?
AJK: I am currently working on a new set of improvisations, electroacoustic and electronic landscapes. I am taking a break from noise and psychedelic music to focus more on Kosmische and New Age. I always wanted to make meditative music, so 2024 is the year when I finally felt spiritually stable enough to do it. I am not working on any particular project, just loose sessions in the New Age spirit and some that are more rooted in blues and folk.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
AJK: Snow in Water Records will release my new album in June, also I think Muteant Sounds will release “Treehouse Jams” in April. It’s been a great experience working with those two labels.
TMODM: It’s already February but I was wondering if you’re optimistic or pessimistic about the new year?
AJK: I am rather optimistic. I have a great job at a local record store, so I have lots of time to listen to music and search for inspiration in old dusty vinyl.

Guy Roswell is a psych rock band hailing from deep in the blue ridge mountains of Asheville, NC.
TMODM: What had the strongest influence on Trismegistus?
Guy Roswell: We wanted to capture our live sound as best as possible at first, but later had heaps of fun adding in some new melodies and keyboard parts.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
Guy Roswell: That’s going to a mix between Lonerism and Blonde on Blonde. Love the sprawling song structures and introspective/ surreal lyrics on both!
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Guy Roswell: Have a fresh batch of songs to start on for the next chapter, looking forward to more recording and/or shows coming later this year!

The Litanies are from Rome, Italy. The Litanies formed in 2021. The band merges dark modern post punk with elements of psychedelia.
TMODM: What had the strongest influence on The Moment That Repeats Itself?
Sergio (singer): I spent a long period of my life in the UK and had first-hand experience with the local Bristol scene, and I loved it. once I returned to Italy I merged all my influences into a project that was called The Litanies, with my friends Francesco (bass) and Simone (drums) we wrote all the songs that were in a demo version on my PC.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
Sergio: Many, but something really happened years ago with The Cure’s album – Pornography – this album opened to me the doors of perceptions.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Sergio: We’re working on the promotion of our first album and as soon as it’s finished we’ll start writing again, that’s all.

The band is part of the DIY music scene that is mutually supported by self-organized groups and infrastructures. Born at the end of 2022 in the self-managed studio “Technasma”, AMATROMA is a project from Patras that fulfills its members’ need for musical exploration and expression.
TMODM: What had the strongest influence on Facade?
AMATROMA: Living in a country of deep corruption and trying to survive in it, we meet continuous difficulties like social pressures, high costs of living, dead-end individualism and fake needs. At a time when we need each other more than ever, everyone chooses the opposite. Being hardpressed by these circumstances, and as members of the antifascist and self-organized community, we were lucky enough to meet in a self-managed studio , away from record labels, entrepreneurs and managers, to make our jams and improvisations and turn our thoughts and feelings into this album.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
AMATROMA: We cannot say that there were albums that changed our lives but mostly bands. Antifascist groups of the self-organized underground local music scene that deal with sociopolitical issues are among them. These bands made us understand that we wanted to do that too.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
AMATROMA: Improvisations, gigs and make new music.

Aeri Satur is from São Paulo, Brazil. Black trance from cosmic cascades and aerial tree barks.
TMODM: What has had the strongest influence on your music?
Aeri Satur: Musically speaking it’s hard to say, i bring many influences from black metal, jazz, psychedelic and others. The first thing that comes in mind it’s my previous ritualistic ayahuasca trips, i did it many times. Since when i am experiencing it i lost like 90% control of my body, it’s almost impossible to do anything materially speaking, like playing guitar. There are some people that can play while on hoasca trip btw, not my case. But i can closely access that mind state while still having my body control through less strong psychoactives and meditation, so that consciousness was my strongest influence.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
Aeri Satur: Again, it’s hard to say, because it depends of the period of my life. Different periods was changed by different records. I remember strongly when i was a teenager and listened to the whole Pink Floyd’s Ummagumma for the first time. Careful with that Axe, Eugene is always intense for me, particularly.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Aeri Satur: Ayahuasca Ataraxia is a part of a “trilogy” focused on psychedelics, there will be an album focused on weed moods and other on mushrooms, but before that in the middle of this year i plan to launch an album or an EP with a more nostalgic bm feel, using some old compositions that i’ve recently encountered. I think those are more related to dsbm.

Inspired by 60s and 70s garage rock, folk and surfy spring reverbs, yalisco brings you on a sunny ride along the coast.
Valentin Girardet: guitar, vocals
David Torche: drums, percussion
Mario Peiró Espí: lead guitar, keyboards, Wurlitzer, vocals
Nora Zufferey: bass, vocals
Additional effects by Benoit Gerard on Azur.
I corresponded with Valentin.
TMODM: What has had the strongest influence on your music?
VG: Personally, I guess it’s the lost 60s garage rock songs that I discovered on YouTube playlists. I am so grateful that people collect and share these old gems. Some of these bands actually only released 4-5 songs but there is something in that music that I love. These bands were created by young people so maybe it is the simplicity that comes with a kind of youthful carelessness.
TMODM: What record changed your life?
VG: I don’t know if it changed my life, but it certainly shaped my taste and what I wanted to create/play. It’s Allah-Las’ first record. I discovered it years ago but I still cherish it.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
VG: Well, we have just released our first album so we’re gonna enjoy the next shows. And work on new songs. Actually, we already have a couple of them!

Pilot Voyager is originally a one-man band of Ákos Karancz. Mixing improvisational guitar music with analog modulations, creating space to get lost between thoughts whatever they are noisy or calm. Ákos also does collaborations with members of Contremarque, Satorinaut, Lemurian Folk Songs, produced by psychedelic source records.
TMODM: What are you working on now?
Ákos Karancz: I am working on some new experiments with classical guitar to go back to the roots. It is quite interesting how the sound deforms after electric guitar.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Ákos Karancz: I plan to make some records about testing my classical guitar with effects.
TMODM: Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the new year?
Ákos Karancz: I am totally optimistic about leading myself to a new horizon after the shitty 2023. Globally is a different question…

Psych-rock jam band from Ireland.
Formed out of a love for jams.
TMODM: What are you working on now?
Space Shepherds: We’ve got a couple recording sessions lined up for the year and we’re gonna have a lot of fun with them.
Currently two sessions booked; One with Dale Hughes from Electric Octopus, and another with Niall Doran from Start Together Studios. But, those aren’t until March so currently we’re just continuing to have some fun doing what we do until then.
TMODM: What’s next for you?
Space Shepherds: Well aside from the recordings we’ve got planned, we’ll be making an appearance at this year’s KOZFEST, Devon. Very excited for this one as it’ll be our first appearance in England. But while we’re there we’ll definitely have some other shows across the water, so if you’re living in England, keep an eye out cos we’re probably going to be hitting up a town or city near you.
TMODM: Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the new year?
Space Shepherds: We’re definitely feeling the buzz of the new year, and no matter what happens we’ll make the best of it.
